Supportive app for savr wearable device used to assist people with type 1 diabetes during severe hypoglycemia. 

Savr is a wearable alert device used to guide people through emergency life saving assistance caused by severe hypoglycemia in type 1 diabetic patients. 

The accompanying app prototype has been designed based on the wearable features and allows for customization of the wearable functionality. Moreover, this application communicates between CGM and the wearable and enables the user to perform specific actions simultaneously. The app makes it easy to alert and notify emergency contacts (through a carrier app), bystanders (through text messages) and emergency services (through an automatic voice call)

Another app called Savr Connect App is used by the close emergency contacts of the diabetic person for assisting them during diabetic emergencies.

SAVR WIREFRAMES

The smart wearable integrates with any CGM device through a digital application using Bluetooth technology. It alerts emergency contacts through a carrier app and bystanders through mass text notification which doesn’t require an embedded app. This is done through wireless emergency alerts (WEA), which disseminate emergency alerts to mobile devices in a designated geographic area (Wilson, 2018). The app initiates an automatic voice call to medical emergency service if required and also offers customization options such as choosing alarm sounds, contact lists, voice activation phrases etc.

The app sends a push notification to alert the user of an impending low blood sugar episode. Since the app is communicating with wearable which tracks activity as well, thus proactively working in avoiding low blood sugar episodes.

The app also sends a text message to bystanders by informing them about a potential diabetic emergency and guiding them through steps for assisting the person and providing early intervention until professional help arrives.
