Work for Environmental Conservation

We, mankind have played a key role in increasing destruction and degradation of environment exponentially in the past century. In the wake of COVID-19, instead of realizing that our greed has gotten us into this terrible pandemic, we have done the opposite. COVID-19 pandemic was seen as an opportunity to easily override mandatory procedures that are to be followed while building infrastructure near eco-sensitive and biodiverse regions.
These posters were done to amplify the causes with art. Art campaigns draw more attention to the issue and I believe art is one of the most powerful tools to invoke empathy and attention.
Save Pulicat Art Campaign - Tamil Nadu & Andhra Pradesh, India.

Pulicat lake is separated from the mighty Bay of Bengal by just a thin strip of land. It is India's second-largest brackish lake. For many fishermen in the states of Tamil Nadu and Andhra pradesh, the lake is a source of food, a natural barrier against the vagaries of sea, and increasingly, a bulwark against climate change.
But Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ), an Indian shipping company, is working to expand an existing port in nearby Kattupalli, a dozen kilometers south of Pulicat lake. APSEZ is proposing to increase the port's capacity from roughly 25 million metric tonnes per year to 320 to support the region's coal-fired power plants, oil refineries, and car factories.

A poster for World Rhino Day

Rhinos are mega herbivores. They graze large parts of the grasslands single handedly. About 1000 rhinos were killed last year alone for their horns. What if this keystone species were to disappear?
Less grazing areas, deterioration of water bodies are the prime concerns if they were to disappear.
Less grazing area means the land is either invaded by forests and inedible plants or it becomes dry. This makes the area less habitable for other herbivore species like zebras, antelopes etc.
When there is no food for herbivore species, they breed less and in turn it affects the apex predators like lions, tigers etc.
Diminished grasslands and poor aquatic bodies lead to unfathomable carbon dioxide levels.
Dibang Valley Art Campaign - Arunachal Pradesh, India.

The Etalin hydro powerplant project will involve diversion of 2850 acres of forest land and felling of 2.7 lakh trees in one of the most biodiverse Himalayan zones in Arunachal Pradesh's Dibang Valley.
It is home to 413 plants, 159 butterflies, 113 spiders, 14 amphibian, 31 reptile, 230 bird and 21 mammalian species.

This piece of work was shared on Instagram by many resistance groups and notable people like Rohan Chakravarthy (Cartoonist) - Creator of Green Humor
Mollem Forest Art Campaign - Goa, India.

Highway expansion, railway line doubling and transmission line construction are the three projects that will result in habitat fragmentation and have direct impacts on wildlife in Goa’s Bhagwan Mahaveer Wildlife Sanctuary and Mollem National Park.
These clearances were granted virtually during the ongoing lockdown in view of the pandemic.
