[GAIA]

It is common to associate Gaia with the nature we see in documentaries of the planet Earth. Or, her marriage to Uranus, god of the sky, in the creation of the world (Genesis).

I like to think of the marriage and duel of these gods in a psychological way (what happens in our mind). Material (Gaia) and spiritual (Uranus) principles.

Every day we have instincts that direct us to the material and to the divine. The duel between these wills (gods) tends to move us, in our daily activities, creating different fruits.

Activities that we carefully control are the ones that shape our personality as some others are swallowed by time (Cronos). That motivation to start something new next Monday that is eaten up in the middle of the week, in a month or in a year.

Gaia, mother nature, exists within us in a controlled way (like a garden) and uncontrolled (like an erupting volcano). A chaotic nature would feel like anxiety, banality and nervousness.

My representation here, is of the goddess in an orderly moment, with foliage, flowers, fruits and feathers.

I chose to center the woman's head in the composition, as the main symbol. The deity in control of the nature around and within it. The next elements were positioned around her face making a kind of halo, circle, crown or mandala. In each corner the representation of an element of matter (water, air, earth and fire / light).

Finally, twelve tulips. Flower that represents “perfect love” in the quantity that represents totality. Something that would only be achieved in a final stage.

This type of “nature”, orderly and not chaotic, only exists after a certain maturity and when in balance with its opposite (Uranus).
Sketch.
