For this project, I explored the characteristics of the Gill Sans typeface through this short book layout and brief history of the typeface. The color scheme I chose was based on the soft edges of the Gill Sans typeface, and the light pistachio green and dark grey provided the perfect contrast without being too extreme, and the orange provided a bright accent color to aid the design. The final color, a light cream, helped maintain the softness of the rest of the design. For this project, I really wanted to emphasize the dichotomy between the softness and the boldness of the Gill Sans typeface. I used the letterforms in condensed areas to emphasize the boldness and kept them in the heavier weights to emphasize the soft edges. I also created a poster to go along with the typographic specimen book, which sizes up the typeface.
