The goal was to create a poster for a made up band that showed a certain feeling you can get from listening to this particular "band's" music.
Ideation and Sketches:
I decided to start by thinking of how I feel when I listen to music. Something that kept popping up was the thought of late night vibes. I tried to think of what went along with late night vibes, and "Late Night Snack" came to mind– the glow of the refrigerator against the cool floors of a kitchen in darkness. Running off of that feeling, I decided to start sketching out a few ideas. While I was doing my quick sketches, I decided to think of other feelings I have when listening to music and sketched a few of those as well.
After doing a few sketches and running over a few different ideas, I decided to go with an open vintage fridge with the light spilling out. I started in on my drafts.
I worked on the fridge outline first– just trying to get my perspective right. I wasn't sure if I wanted the band name, venue, and dates on the items inside of the fridge or on the door, so I experimented a bit with that. I received some feedback on my perspective since it was a little off and tried to work on that as well. I ended up placing random objects in the fridge and placing the text on the door. I also decided to rename the band because I didn't want it to relate to what the image was saying.
