Before I dive right in, here's a little on the process and inspiration I took to help me arrive at the final design.
I am a huge fan of the string world and have no association with this magazine, this was done for an assignment at college.
Also, all images from the internet for inspiration are used for academic purposes, not for monetisation.

The process not only included work on layouts, but also photography, making illustrations and editing the pictures.
