Menarché is a series of digital illustrations on the topic of women's health awareness. It's a crucial part of a bigger project in a process of making,  that will also include an informative website. I sketched its beginnings in colourful illustrations, where I try to evoke a kind of comfort or peace with mostly soft pastel colors, as a contrast to traditional illustrations from the medical environment. I tried to show how it will work in individual parts of the project by choosing from its sections - female anatomy, health issues, birth control options etc.
Health awareness is good for every community. In the sensitivity of adolescence, awareness is very important, for girls to learn to understand their body, health and health care options, which helps prevent health problems or their early diagnosis and also prevents prejudice based on incorrect information and increases their self confidence.
Although major global campaigns are currently underway on health issues and major diseases, such as breast cancer, spreading awareness on personal hygiene, menstruation as such and possible health problems associated with it - e.g. endometriosis, adenomyosis, PCOS, etc., little is being done or it's generally politicized or taboo.
