Bappasauras

Optikal Asylum
Optikal Asylum is a traveling art and music event showcasing some of the best emerging creative talent in India.
The Brief
This poster was created for a three city tour of Optikal Asylum. Optikal Asylum wanted a poster which would grab the attention of its audience – young art and music enthusiasts.  The poster needed to be true to the spirit of the cities where the event was taking place while having a certain aesthetic edge.

The Idea
The Hindu god Ganesha is the patron deity of the cities across which Optikal Asylum was traveling where he’s lovingly called Bappa.  He is traditionally seen with an elephant head and a human body.
But to speak to speak more to the sensibilities of our audience, Bappa was reimagined in the Cretaceous period as Bappasaurus, with a Triceratops head, belting tunes on a futuristic Sitar while two brachiosaurus’ beckon visitors to the Optikal Asylum. This poster was used by Optikal Asylum and their sponsors in their online advertising campaigns for the events. They were also printed and placed in the popular chain of pubs, Socials who were the venue partners for the event.
