Anachronisms
My city, Utrecht, is always changing, always developing. From the first day I moved here the station area has been under construction. Now, almost eight years later it still is and not near completion. As a result, Utrecht has a lovely combination of modern architecture and an old historic center. The modern buildings can feel out of place, out of time, but in a beautiful way. Also the city's most famous sight, the centuries old Dom Tower is undergoing a renovation. The relation between the city's old and new is portrayed in this project: it may feel as an anachronism; a chronological inconsistency in some arrangement, especially a juxtaposition of persons, events, objects, language terms and customs from different time periods. To complete the anachronistic sense, this project has been shot on black and white film and is self-developed.
