Some days I fall into a strange kind of darkness - it is not blatant, but subtle, not overpowering, but silent, and that is what makes it all the more dangerous. I feel distant from my loved ones, or too attached to the ones that are distant. I feel light, but not in the good way, and before I know it I am suddenly floating. 
Through this piece, I aim to capture this feeling on screen.

process

I began with still sketches of the scene, making sure the sky was the overpowering element - there was something about clouds and the way they drifted that reflected this emptiness so deeply. 

To mimic that feeling of 'floatingness', it was integral that the movement of the image appeared smooth, fluid, and perhaps, even entrancing. For this reason, each element of the scene was illustrated, and animated separately (see below). In this manner, each was able to produce its own unique movements whilst remaining in hamony with the rest.
