Project: Wood Joint

To understand a material is to experience and touch its texture and to feel it through the temperature that it gives, and most of time, it is through holding it in hand. This is a cell-phone size wood puzzle that appropriately provides such experience. Through solving how two pieces of wood fit together with each other, time and opportunities are provided for the basic understanding of wood.

The solvers of this puzzle are encouraged to explore complexity through simplicity. If observed closely, these two pieces of wood are result of 33 little pieces glued together. Though complex in structure, these two pieces remain visually two wholes as, when each was pieced together, wood grains were carefully oriented and selected to match with those of the adjacent wood pieces.
