Dark Truth, the restricted reality.

For most of us they don’t exist, for our government they are just illegal immigrants.
Growing families, constant wait, rush for life, topsy turvy world.

We in Delhi haven’t only disowned Yamuna, but also these slum dwellers.
Translated from conversations with people in images

This is the story of my life.

when people dance to welcome the rains, I get drenched to save my limited belongings

when people enjoy drinks in bungalows, I burn my skin in the scorching heat

when mothers cuddle their kids in warm beds,

I dive and take out coins from Yamuna to feed my family,

I feel the nature most through my body, mind & soul..

And yet they say I am not the WANTED CHILD…
For all of us water of Yamuna was exciting to watch while flowing above danger mark. To them it was a Giant who swallowed their Houses and Crops. Floods move off leaving their lives in lurch. The Residue of Flood, THEIR FRAGMENTED LIVES. Each time they are devastated by natural and human forces, They like phoenix recreate themselves through their ashes.

NGOs, Government organisations and politicians, all talk about plans for these people’s better future. Especially during pre-elections, because come-on of course votes can be put by their thumbs with different identities.

Question is after 3 generations of living on Yamuna shores, who will decide if they belong here or not?
