App Concept for the Kentucky Bourbon Trail
A centralized location to plan, book, and experience the Kentucky Bourbon Trail

CONTEXT
The Kentucky Bourbon Trail was established in 1999 by the Kentucky Distillers’ Association (KDA) as a road-trip style experience for bourbon enthusiasts and amateurs alike. The Kentucky Bourbon Trail consists of a total of 38 distilleries across the state of Kentucky, and has proved to be one of the most successful tourist attractions in the state, with over 2.5 millions visitors in the past 5 years. The Kentucky Bourbon Trail exemplifies the rich history of bourbon and the American spirit within the context of local distilleries and time-honored traditions.

PROBLEM
While the Kentucky Bourbon Trail maintains an online presence with a website that provides users with suggested experiences, itineraries, and events, the Bourbon Trail does not currently have a digital application where users can easily research, plan, and book experiences. The challenge for the Kentucky Bourbon Trail is to produce a centralized digital location where users can plan, book, and experience the Kentucky Bourbon Trail from start to finish, resulting in a more streamlined and enjoyable overall experience with the Bourbon Trail.

SOLUTION
A new digital application that features a centralized location where users can book tours, follow a comprehensive, personalized route and itinerary, hold and organize all booking documents, and use the functions and experiences that the Kentucky Bourbon Trail is known for, such as the KBT Passport. This app will streamline the experience of participating in the bourbon trail and shift the focus away from the frustrations of planning and organizing to simply enjoying the experience.
