COLLABORATORS
01. HOURGLASS CHAIR

The Hourglass Chair is a twist on a classic measuring device. This oversized timer has been retrofitted into a seat perfect for the work from home lifestyle or an elegant home exercise routine.

Even if you don’t utilize it’s functionality for your personal health it becomes a seamless artistic centerpiece for any living room gathering. Once flipped the Hourglass Chair has 30 minutes until all of the sand has fallen to the bottom. This timer was developed based on health experts recommendation of standing up and moving the body every 30 minutes to avoid “sitting disease”.
MATERIALS

Recycled plexiglass.
Tan sand created from recycled ground up glass bottles.
LOGISTICS

The Hourglass Chair is a hollow morphed cube approximately 45cm x 45cm. Its lightweight clear structure is molded out of plexiglass. The hollowed out interior forms the shape of an hourglass that contains a tan colored recycled glass sand. The chair is symmetrical on all sides. Its curved feet/seat allow it to be rolled upside down easily and gently. The chairs hourglass timer has been gauged to take 30 minutes from start to finish based on the sands weight, texture and the diameter of the funnel.
02. FIRST LIGHT

The First Light is a futuristic classic. It’s design depicts the evolution of humanity in a simple parallel between two forms of energy. The flame and the electric current. Two of our biggest achievements. Differentiating what we were and what we have become. Ultimately taking us out of the dark and into the light.

But for the first time they are being paired next to each other to remind us of our ability to think, grow and change. As the candle melts lower we see that the lightbulb seems to rise higher. Acting as a metaphoric reminder of our mental and industrial growth.
MATERIALS

Candles are made from recycled wax.
Organic stone composite.
LOGISTICS

The First Light has a sold stone base approximately 26cm long x 13cm high x 13cm wide. The first level of the light features a lightbulb socket directly in the center of the square surface meant for housing an Edison bulb. On the second level of the light a dug out space for a candle is placed directly in the center of the square surface. As the candle melts it eventually becomes level with the lightbulb. A thin black cord is tucked away on the back bottom left hand corner of the first level of the light.
03. INNER LIGHT

The Inner Light recreates the feeling of the sun in the home by bringing the balance and harmony of the outdoors inside. This boxed light acts as a metaphor for our own spiritual creativity emitting from within our current work from home confinement.

As the Inner Light gently turns on utilizing an inner timer it reminds us that our work day has begun. Likewise as the sun begins to set the Inner Light begins to dim acting as a soft reminder that our work day is over. Allowing our home environment to flow with the natural rhythm of the sun.
MORNING / NIGHT

The Inner Light’s inner timer allows the light to gradually turn on / dim off mimicking the sunrise / sunset happening outside the home.
MATERIALS

Housed in dark black reclaimed wood box.
Recycled plastic orb.
Energy efficient light bulbs.
LOGISTICS

The Inner Light is approximately 22cmx22cm and contains a soft frosted glass orb inside of it. The jet black reclaimed wood container features softened corners and sanded edges for safety. Once flipped upside down the bottom of the light features a removable compartment that houses a smaller light bulb inside. A thin black cord with a timer functionality built in is tucked away on the back bottom right hand corner of the light. The timer syncs with your local timezone allowing the light to gradually brighten with the rising sun and then dim as the sun sets.
