During the Spring of 2012, while taking an Illustration class at the School of Visual Arts, I started to brainstorm the ideas in a sketchbook on my way to, and from, the school. These usually mundane subway rides became fun, creative times. Having a perfectionist approach to my art, which at times can be a burden, I loved how the rumbling train environment loosened up my drawing technique. The ‘mistakes’ I was making using ink markers gave these illustrations a raw edge that channeled unfiltered energy of NYC. Most of these were started without any preconceived ideas. They're stream-of-consciousness drawings reflecting visions and thoughts of mysubconscious.
