VALUE DRAPPERY IS A SIMPLE EXPORING OF VALUE AND SHADING TO CREATE DEPTH AND ACHEIVEE THE RECARTION OF THE TEXTUE OF CLOTH.

SURFACE is a 20 part project that explores how the simplicity of black and white paper combined with cutting and arrangement can become a complex composition focused in variety. Each study from A1 (being the least complex) to D5 (most complex) is a compilation of how black interacts white and vice versa. Three black strips were cut for each white 7”x &’’ square with a ½ inch border. Through a very thoughtful and selective process, I chose a method of shifting and shaping that would give each piece its own unique “story”. I discovered that every complex form beings with simple ideas. Visual weight, patterns, balance, movement, shape, and line can be accomplished by combining different elements to create variety within a piece.
