Angelica Maquette Process

Step 1: Start with a concept drawing in the pose you want for your maquette.

Step 2: Make any adjustments and turn it into a solid ink drawing. This will help clarify the lines in your maquette.

Step 3: attach a wire form to a base and pose it according to your drawing, making sure that it represents the pose you drew eirlier.

Step 4: Next I attend to the base using super sculpey. After the base is molded I harden the base by baking. This will keep the base from squishing while I work on the figure.

Step 5: Add tinfoil to any larger areas to conserve sculpey. then mold the body shape over the foil, making sure not to make your sculpey layer too thin or it will break when baked.

Step 5 continued: Your figure should look something like this. I like to mold my figure first then attend to the clothes afterwords so I know I have a solid base structure to work off of.

Step 6: Compare your figure to your drawing. Dose it clearly represent your pose? If not make the nessacairy adjustments.

Step 7: Begin to block in clothing and hair shapes.

Step 8: Add details to your clothing shapes and face. I use turpenoid and a brush to smooth out rough edges. Again make sure it represents your drawing clearly.

Step 9: Add any tools or wepons to your figure and your done!
