A popular skiing destination in Southern California is the Big Bear Mountain Resort, a two and a half hour drive from Los Angeles. The resort has two mountains, Bear Mountain, with its 8,805-foot peak, and Snow Summit, which reaches 8,200 feet. Winter operations are from November to April. Skiers have access to 26 lifts, over 55 runs, and over 400 skiable acres, and all lift tickets are valid for both mountains.

Bear Mountain features a cutting-edge terrain park with rails, boxes, and an array of jumps. It is Southern California’s largest ski teaching area, with skiing lessons offered seven days a week. On the other hand, Snow Summit spans over 240 acres of skiable slopes, more than Bear Mountain. It is more family-oriented, and trails are available for all skiing ability levels. While ideal for beginner skiers, it also has more advanced runs than Bear Mountain.
