Bob’s Red Mill is one of the most prominent producers of natural and
organic milled products in The United States. Billing itself as the
nation’s leader miller of diverse whole grain foods it produces over 400
products, primarily whole grains that are ground with quartz millstones
as well as a variety of seeds, nuts, dried fruits, spices and herbs.
The current packaging is a cellophane bag. Once it has been opened
you either have to move it to a storage container or double bag it. This
can be o-putting for customers. As a result easy storage was one of
my main concerns. I spent most of my research finding a structure that could be resealed after it was opened. I adapted this tetrahedron shape and found that it could be resealed as well as stand on its own. For my typeface I wanted to maintain the same feel of the brand while
updating it without going too modern. I also aimed at designing a more
unified variety of packages.
