I designed & produced these three garments during my second year of my Fashion & costume course. The brief for this project was to research & develop an idea of our own choice, so I decided to explore Make Do & Mend. I also incorporated abstract patterns as a sub theme to make my designs and research more interesting. This required sourcing old fabrics that I could then transform into something new and I was lucky enough to find three vintage patterned fabrics that fit my theme perfectly.
I then had to think carefully about each design as I had a limited amount of fabric to work with because of the pieces being off-cuts. This led to the decision of buying some plain coloured fabrics to go alongside the vintage fabrics, so I had more choice when designing.
When the garments were complete we arranged for professional models to wear our pieces for a photo shoot within the uni campus.
