You see, the problem is that we are so self-centred that we can’t see beyond our vanity. 

We get “distracted by catastrophic events/wars/famine/etc...” that make us feel human for a brief moment, then go back to our vain existence. 

The Balloon Face (inspired by Botox and plastic surgery disasters) is a representation of the vanity and carnal self we are so addicted to. 

The Balloon Face will be a feature in a series of artworks. 

This particular scene is that of the destruction of war and the contrast of the vain self. 

It is quite a large home with levels. A family home, could’ve been yours or mine. An abandoned town due to the severe consequences of war. It could be any location. But to me, right now, this is Yemen. 

You find yourself feeling empathy and sadness and all the beautiful emotions you should because you are human. But you get distracted by the Balloon Face, your vanity, your carnal self that seems to only care about itself. Then those beautiful emotions fade away... and you go back to your normal routine... until another event.

And the cycle continues...
