For this project we needed to create a design inspired by the Burma Shave billboards on route 66. We needed to find a quote that had a four letter word at the end, or close to the end, and photos to go along with it. You can find those, as well as other photos I didn't end up using by clicking here. This project was really fun. I recently took a road trip and saw some similar billboards
to those that inspired this project.
I chose these lyrics by Ben Rector, the song is called "Love Like This". It's special to me because it's a song my boyfriend showed me and sings to me on occasion. It ended up working perfectly for this project.
The front cover to the book. This is where I finally locked in a color scheme by tying in the blue from the four page panel, in a more subtle way.
Inside flaps. This is where I experimented the most. If I had to do this again I definitely would've perfected the alignment of the colors. I don't mind the imperfections though.

Four page fold out section featuring the four letter word. This took a lot of trial and error, experimenting, and problem solving to get my desired look. I felt the "O" frame around the couple as well as the emphasis from the change in color brought home the feeling of isolation, and attention to one another. I'm so pleased with the way it came out.
