Dreamland Packaging Concept

Branding and packaging redesign for Dreamland (2020), the third studio album of the indie group Glass Animals. Dripping with nostalgic pop culture imagery from the 90s to early 2000s, 20-30 year olds were the primary target audience for Dreamland around the time of its release.

The goal for this project was to create a cd label, booklet, and outer packaging design that match the album’s established look and feel, as seen in promotional material, website, and live events for Dreamland.
Dreamland's surreal retro look is inspired by vaporwave and early internet culture, melded together with the themes of childhood memories and unfulfilled promises.
In my redesign, computers function as symbols of connection and memory through their ability to record, store, share, and manipulate artifacts of our experiences (such as photos, 3D models, video, etc.). As such, I decided to use imagery reminiscent of old computing technology to recreate the feeling "of being lost in a world where you're never lost, alone in a world where you're never alone".
