'Secret City: Project Y' Destination Style Posters

My team made a mobile app for the Manhattan Project National Historical Park called Secret City: Project Y. I realized shortly after release that it wasn't getting as much traction as we would like, for various reasons... So, I was able to convince my boss & clients that we should create some content for user acquisition. As a part of that, me and one of my coworkers made 5 posters each over the course of about a week and a half.
These are my 5 destination style posters, each highlighting one of the virtual site tours we made in the app, and a little bit of process involved along the way.
For the first poster, I started with a rough in Photoshop, just using a round brush and trying to find a good color palette and composition. I then explored a little bit of the type, then took that image (first below) into Illustrator with photo and model reference from our app to build the actual vector art, and type treatments. For the rest of the posters I made the roughs in Photoshop from the image/model reference, with some placeholder type, then figured out the colors and type treatments as I built out the vectors in Illustrator.
Final Results
The client also requested 11"X17" variants of the posters with QR codes for quick navigation to the App Store and Google Play
You can also download the app if you would like to check it out on the
If you made it this far, THANK YOU!
