Self Portrait: Soul Below

My memory of scuba diving in Kota Kinabalu consists of sapphire waves, scorching sunlight, and rhythmic bubbles. While relying on two heavy cans of dry air, I was able to defy gravity and explore the endless blue. Though I couldn't talk and was accompanied with the monotonous bubbling sound of my breath, I loved the almost surreal feeling of detachment. I merged my face with the geometric portrayal of water, sunlight, and creatures; the clash of blue and coral red embodies the two separate worlds.

Why are my lips black? Because I was semi-obsessed with black lipsticks back then.

Fish and water eventually become the recurring themes in my other works too.
