This is my first try at creating a poster. The purpose of this poster is to advertise the font Avenir, showcasing its benefits for the user. In the process of developing this poster, I identified a definite end user to help define the project parameters. Once that was done, I conducted research to learn more about the history and usage of the font, implemented some potential designs, solicited peer feedback, refined the design, and repeated this process until I was happy with the results.

This design is intended to have a strong focal point that will attract the attention of the user. I used a little lost and found, colors, as well as shadowing in order to create the main focal point. I checked my colors using grey-scale to make sure that there is good contrast using lights, mediums and dark colors, as well as conducted research in order to use period appropriate colors. I was also to create typographical hierarchy. I used different size fonts and weights, spacing, and color in order to move the users eye from one section to another. This helps the reader find useful information. I also used repetition and proximity to group the style weights in an easily identifiable format.  Negative space provides the reader's eye a rest while showcasing important information.  Alignment in this poster provides clear boundaries while also organizing the information horizontally and vertically.
