Patti Smith - Fanzine
Proyecto que comenzó con la elaboración de collages digitales e investigación sobre la obra de la artista Patti Smith. La idea evolucionó en la creación de un fanzine que uniese sus letras y los collages a modo de antología. La etimología de esta palabra, antología, proviene del griego y significa “colección de flores” por lo que estos elementos que aparece durante todo el fanzine se utilizan como nexo de unión entre imagen y texto. A su vez, cada imagen contiene elementos clave que representan el simbolismo de las letras de sus canciones así como el contexto en el que la canción fue compuesta en la vida de la autora.
La encuadernación artesanal y el uso de papel con textura en la cubierta añade un toque más delicado y también se incluyen algunos originales de los textos, creados con una maquina de escribir, y escaneados para crear los collages finales.
This is a personal project that began with the creation of some digital collages that lead me to further research in the lyrics and poetry of the artist Patti Smith. With the idea of making a fanzine as an anthology of her songs I learned that the etymological origin of this word in Greek means “a collection of flowers” so I took this idea as a bonding element between the images and the text. Each image contains key elements that represent the connection between symbolism of the lyrics and context of the moment the song was written in the life of the artist.
To add a handmade touch to the project I decided to include some fragments of the lyrics that were created with a typewriter and then scanned to incorporate them to the final images, representing the actual experience of the artist working in her texts. Handcrafted paper is used in the binding to achieve a delicate but simple overall look.
