Paul Reeves's profile

Principal’s Book for Parents Teaching Principles

Paul W. Reeves, of Grosse Ile, Michigan, spent 37 years in education, first as a teacher and later as a principal. Drawing on his experience working in Michigan public schools as an educator, as well as a parent, Paul Reeves wrote the book “A Principal's Family Principles.”

The book focuses on raising children in an atmosphere that may not be very positive. Today, children are surrounded by many distractions, including those that influence their attitudes and behavior. The educator draws from his own experiences in dealing with the thousands of students he has encountered during his long career to give insight on the significant role of parents in their children's lives, which is the main theme of the work.

The author conveys the idea that parents should become the most important people in their children’s lives through 84 stories of his experiences as a parent and an educator. These stories illustrate the importance of parents taking an active role in their children’s lives, instead of allowing their children to find mentors or peers who may not lead them to success. The book goes further than showing the importance of parents becoming the primary role model in the child's life - it also provides parents with effective, relevant strategies for raising their children.
