Fort Worden, Port Townsend, Washington state, USA

Together with Fort Casey and Fort Flagler, Fort Worden formed the "Circle of Fire" guarding Admiralty Inlet, the entrance to Puget Sound. These and other coastal forts were built around the turn of the 20th century to protect the west coast of the US against attack. Not one ever fired a shot at an enemy. They were rendered obsolete and were decommissioned after WW II. Fort Worden is now a Washington state park and campground. Images made with Canon AE1 camera, 50mm f1.8 lens. Delta 400 film scanned, then enhanced in Adobe Lightroom.
