Observational Drawing

This project was set to test our observation skills with personal items that we owned and with objects that we could find around us. Firstly we had to take a pair of our own shoes and decide on how we want to represent them (what meaning will this portray?). The second item we drew was any item that we personally owned and drawing it with anything we could find at the drawing venue. Finally we had to observe and draw from a still life that we created from various furniture and items that we have found in the drawing studios. We had to depict this still life with the various tones and hues in black and white with pencil or charcoal from our own viewpoint of the still life.
This is a pair of my own shoes used to to show how much I have grown over the years and how my shoes have grown with me. This is seen with my shoes being faded and small in the beginning to represent my childhood, to the shoes being large and solid representing my adulthood and my growth being completed.
Here we had to draw any item that we had on us that could meaning or value and combine it with items found at our location such as plants. For this I decided on a reusable Lindt chocolate container and some plants to make it appear like it is growing out of it. I decided on two mediums for the drawing by using pen for the container for a more harsh look and pencil for the plants to make it more gentle and life like.
This is my take on the still life that was created at the drawing studio from various furniture and items that can be found there. From this each of us chose a spot we wanted to draw the still life from and we did our best to depict everything we can with the various shadows and hues with pencil or charcoal.
