A Teddy Bear Story: Cafesito

CAFESITO
Halloween 2019
As kids we always have friends that come and go but I had a stuff animal that was my friend and I felt like he would be there till the end, but I was wrong. It all started when one of my mom’s friend’s son wanted to get rid of some of his stuffed animals and when I looked inside the bag, I saw a teddy bear that capture my attention and so I asked if I could grab it and they agree. Every night I would go to sleep with my bear and even if I was 7 years old, I knew that I would never be too old to sleep with my bear. He was there to listen to me and cuddle with me when I was scared of the monsters inside the closet and beneath my bead but most importantly when I was afraid of going to school the next day due to being bullied because I was a second language learner. A year later my mom’s friend moved in with us and so her son saw how much I cared for my bear “Pookie” and he then plan to take him back. He stole one of my power rangers’ toys and since I also love power ranger he said if I wanted my toy back, I would have to trade my bear for the toy. Later on, in life eBay came around so I could have just kept my bear and let him keep the toy but when you are a kid you think differently. Fast forward to my late 20’s I decide to go to Build a Bear Workshop to create a new bear that would be there for me to face the struggles of adult life and so “Cafesito” came along. I’ve travel everywhere with him visiting Build a Bear stores all over the U.S we’ve been to San Francisco, New York, and San Antonio. While we were in San Antonio my Uber driver asked if I was one of “Those” people that travel with their bears. Instead of being offended I said, “There’s others?” and I proudly walked away with my teddy bear carrying backpack. I don’t how long he will be with me but I am willing to keep him and take care of him as much as I can.
Cafesito's favorite song is somewhere only we know from the Winnie the Pooh movie trailer.
