ATTENTION ATTENTION is a photographic interactive installation based off of the control and reward aspects of social media, driven by surveillance capitalism. 

The viewer is compelled to interact with the screen as it sits in the abyss, screaming to be played. This is mirrored in a wider context by the nature of smartphones and social media. It has been noted that today we’ve moved away from a ‘tools-based technology environment to an addiction- and manipulation-based technology environment’ meaning that we no longer have a choice in when or why we look at images online, we are simply ‘the means to others end’ and must subject ourselves to a 24/7 screen culture in order to provide the raw behavioural materials for surveillance capitalists to design their predication products (The Social Dilemma, 2020; Zuboff, 2019)
