My starting point is the Amazon forest, one of Brazil’s biomes, extremely rich in fauna and flora diversity. I decided to name my collection Water Lily, as it is a beautiful and very common plant in this region, also being part of the local Indians folklore.

According to the legend, the moon was a god that dated the most beautiful Indian girls and selected some of them to become stars. In an Indian village, there was a girl named Naia, who dreamed of the moon and waited for the day that the god would come to take her. One night, Naia saw the beautiful moonlight reflect in the lake and believed that the god had come from the sky to bath there. This way, the young lady got into the water towards the moon’s reflection. When she realised that was an illusion, it was too late and she couldn’t come back to land, ending up drowning in the lake. Touched by the situation, the moon god decided to transform Naia into a different star, a star from the water. That is why, according to the Indians, the water lily only opens during the night.

This way, I decided to use the Amazon as my main inspiration and explore its possibilities in terms of nature. I developed my concept thinking about a traveler, someone who explores the forest seeking for discovery and adventure, through an observer and respectful vision. The mood board presents different plants, water and elements connected to the concept. It is possible to read the quote “entre a raiz e a flor, há o tempo.”, from the Brazilian poet Jorge de Lima, that means “between the root and the flower, there is time”.
