I am very excited that I am continuing my experiments with natural colors and pigments.

This piece I have created by using organic beetroot juice. I simply crushed beetroot in the mixer and extracted the juice pigment by separating the pulp. I didn't add any binder but instead, I let the paper absorb as much as it could (and it worked just fine!). I used cold press watercolor paper as it is thick and made especially for watercolors. It can absorb water better than any other paper.

I gave the finishing touch by a very light wash of Liquitex acrylic inks mixed with beetroot juice and finished it with Krylon UV archival matte varnish to protect it and also make it water-resistant.
