This project was created for Andrew World’s 2020/2021 annual contest, which is focused on sustainable design. It is also the final project of my university’s subject: Industrial Design 3, which I took in the third semester. The purpose was to design a seat of our choice, which met the requirements of the contest.

After doing some research on sustainable materials, seat types and shapes, I decided to focus on an indoor chair with wood and fruit leather.

(Spanish)

Based on the shape of a stingray, the chair follows an organic design, with elegant curves and conic legs to mimic the animal’s tail.
A 1: 5 scale prototype was made with Autodesk Inventor 2019 for 3d printing.

The prototype was sanded and painted according to the final material, in this case beech wood and a semi-matte paint to simulate the leather finish.
