The inspiration for this artwork was the sculptures of Buddha in many Buddist Temples I have visited in Singapore. I was intrigued by the intricate accessories like the pearl necklaces and natural beauty of the Buddha and thus decided to produce a large scale intricate depiction. Buddhism is also a popular subject matter in Chinese Ink Painting due to its relation with Chinese culture, thus I am inclined to learning and exploring more about it.
