In addition to being an illustrator and sketch artist, I'm also a hardcore cyclist. I love all things cycling, and in particular, the aesthetics of bicycles. During lunch breaks, I like to go outside and quickly sketch some of the bicycles I see locked-up all over the sidewalks of Washington, DC. These sketches are done in roughly 1/2 hour. I start with some quick, faint pencil lines to get the wheels and frame in proportion, and to quickly map out details like saddles, crank arms, and the handlebar/stem combo. From there, I ink the drawing with a cheap gel pen, and then throw down some colors with design markers. All of these were done in a 4" x 6" sketchbook.
