Typesetting and Book Design: Siddhartha
For this personal project, I decided to typeset a book called Siddhartha, written in 1922 about a man's spiritual journey to find himself. Set in the time of Gautama Buddha and the place of the ancient Nepalese kingdom, I decided to typeset in a more classic style and design the cover with inspiration from ancient artworks from the period.
I chose to keep the book cover design simple, with a more complex and decorative border found in a lot of artworks during the time. For the type in the book, I chose to use a slab serif and a sans serif which I believe is able to give the reader a tone of the content. Furthermore, the simplicity of the typesetting of the paragraph allows for an easy reading experience.
