Welcome to Critters Cafe. Critters is a local Cafe with a

rich family history, and only now rebranding themselves to

appeal to a more wider audience. Critters believes in serving

the best beverages and snacks to wandering travellers, and

re-invigorating them for their journeys to come. Surviving

the harshest winters and most taxing adventures across

canada, the familly behind Critters knows full well the comfort

in a warm cup of coffee, or a cold pint. They have grown

old and wish to sppend the rest of their days retelling their

tales, while helping other a folk write theirs.

There is a certain ammount of “HOMESTYLE” that I think is a necessity for a local

island company. Its part of the charm, that not only appeals to the locals, but the

tourists. Henseforth PROFORMA, seriff, bit old fashioned but strong and nostalgic. Of

course, I wanted to add a bit of modern spice to bring some life into this. Univers and

Shree are my big guns. Univers bringing a modern air, while Shree acts as the

border to the contrast.

The inspiration for the art direction I leaned

towards came from my curiosity of cave paintings

in France. The cave people’s depiction of

animals was raw, spontaneous, historical. I

wondered what it would look like if you

collaged all the cave paintings, what if they all

connected? A sort of spiralling chaos that only

when put together correctly do they create a

perceivable being. That sounds a lot like folk

lore doesn’t it. That’s precicely thhe goal. I

imagine that the Critters brand is very centered

towards a rich history of pilgrims. I feel that my

solution was derived by their way of thinking.

Why a bison? Bison are strong, cool, and they

travel in herds. Kind of like people.
