‘Ally’ celebrates the beauty of the relationship with oneself. It is an agender bag that draws its inspiration from traditional south-Indian food wrapping. The timeless colours and classic structures are reflections of an old soul and a gypsy heart. It is a mono-space carryall leather bag that becomes an extension to the body.      

We carry a lot of things every day in various ways and for different purposes. With such diversities in cultures and lifestyles, there are a lot of different ways to carry objects. The purpose of bags has changed from merely carrying to a high fashion accessory. There are quite peculiar ways to carry things depending on the region, culture, and lifestyle of people. It’s interesting to see how the objects we carry become an extension of the human body.

I looked at various possible ways of carrying and narrowed them down to these 5 ways. The idea of zooming out of context and looking at the bigger picture became my perspective to take the project ahead. The leaf wrap held by pinning is my inspiration to design a bag.

The form of the bag provides sufficient space to carry it around every day. It’s a mono-space bag with two wall pockets inside. It allows carrying your everyday essentials and access with great ease. The closure is a sleek brass stick that slides down to hold the faces together. It is attached by a braided leather cord. The mono strap is attached from the left of the front face to the right of the rear face with a brass adjuster. The adjustable strap is of optimum width to be used by everyone irrespective of body type and gender identity. The timeless colours of Buff and Nappa leather portray a classic confident image of the bag from outside and the contrasting black and white checks show its vibrant inner self. It also makes it easier to look for stuff inside the bag with its subtle colour and pattern.
