Animals in Black Pen

Black Pen Exercises
I took the opportunity to revisit my pen and pencil technique with the intention to improve my illustrative practice and gain confidence in drawing wildlife.
My first subject was a headshot of a Cheetah. Firstly outlined in pencil, I then began Mark making with different sized pens.
Following the final image, I decided to then transfer the illustration to computer format and experiment with alternating the Background and Pen colour on Adobe Illustrator.
Pangolin is by far the most complex piece as I mixed the gradient of pen to create varying patterns and tones to reflect the rugged scales.
Following a good response from my peers regarding the Pangolin, I decided to finalise the mini project with another critically endangered animal the Black Rhino.
Following the finalised pen drawing I decided to experiment with colour, by alternating the image on illustrator.
