A Haunted House by Virginia Woolf

Most of my influences as an artist come from Picture Book Illustrators, artists dedicated to illustrating children stories with bright-vibrant colours. The format has become very popular, especially those with simple forms and shapes. Some of them are simulating how children draw, in a way that it is easier for them to connect themselves with the stories. After researching numerous artists on this matter I came across a book called 100 Great  Children's Picturebooks By Martin Salisbury.

From all the authors I have been studying, Evaline Ness used the exact techniques I wanted to experiment with; a simple composition, strong figures that lead the eye of the viewer,  restrict colour palette and a wide variety of techniques.

A hunted house by Virginia Woolf is a very unique story that considers interesting aspects of life and death. It is not only a ghost story but a reflection of love, time and memory. I define my target audience as young adults that could appreciate the style and understand the connection between every scene and can be understood without a storyline. Every image has its own message, and all share the same textures, colours, tones and atmospheres.
