pride
how does one climb up a ladder with eyes closed and wings for arms?
ego preceding each step
each step preceding the fall?

anger
it takes solace in my heart
often wraps around my veins
peeks through my mouth with heat as an accomplice
pressing
crushing
begging to be heard
wanting to be feared

envy
i see it on your wrists
on your skin
on your feed
while my being waddles in lack
green colored glasses
maybe it really is rosy on the other side

greed
born in a rich man’s world
die a poor man’s death
immune to the satisfaction they say happiness brings
is it wrong to want it all?
leave my sheets on the ground
return to a bed made
gluttony
do the stains of my fingertips betray the tale of my last supper?
or the many suppers before it
each meal leaving an imprint.
indulge me
i beg
sloth
tired eyes and tired whines
thoughts strolling along my mind
head hanging low
neck neglecting
oh am i moving too slow?
lust

will you let my breath leave marks on your spine
my scent fill each curve on your being
will you abandon the notion of time
while we savor the throbbing of our hearts?
