Kate Spade Package Design

The final product consists of a bag and a box which serve as collectables for storing smaller to medium sized objects. The bag pictures a black dress with Kate Spade’s current Spring 2013 bow motif. The sides are colored in a complimentary salmon and the handles of the bag are made of pearls, a look that mirrors outfits of the store/customers. To complete the look, a sewn-on leather Kate Spade logo has been added to the bag. With this, the recipient will know that care and thought was brought into the design of their personalized bag. The company cares about each and every shopper, and will spend the extra time and money on their products to make it known. The second product is a box, with the imagery of a blue dress and golden zipper. This too has a lovely yellow to match the dress as well as a cohesive salmon interior. To provide consistency, the accent colors, interior colors, and Kate Spade colored logo were switched between designs.

The goal was to try to keep the look of the packaging as simple and clear as possible. Each package is complete with apparel imagery taken from the store, and the colors are reminiscent of a visit to any Kate Spade location. The logo is made of fine leather and is personally hand stitched for an added tactile experience. Every square inch of the design serves two purposes: to express the personality of the carrier, and to let the world know that they shop at Kate Spade.
