Monochromatic Portrait

My chosen topic of illustration was a monochromatic stylized portrait. I wanted to use some of my own portrait sketches and use them as a baseline for my monochromatic illustration. After getting feedback, I chose to go with the third portrait in my original part one submission as I felt it would suit the requirements the best. I went with a blue monochromatic pallet that I really felt complimented the overall expression of the portrait the best. I wanted this portrait to retain the light and transparent quality it possessed in the original sketch. I did my best to experiment with different brushes, opacities, and different application techniques in order to achieve this. I also did my best to incorporate different textures throughout the piece.   I found the most challenging part of this illustration to be the use of different brushes. I find it hard to achieve the same effect digitally that I create with pencil and paper, but for my first time working on a digital portrait, I am very pleased with the final result!
