Designing for Physical, Social & Cognitive Interaction

Saarthi is an interactive auto meter which displays travel route and landmarks to familiarize people especially when they are new to a place. The idea germinated from the lack of trust between the traveller/customer and the rikshaw driver and the general uneasiness while travelling in cases of unknown route at odd hours. Theres a need of a feedback framework of sorts to exist in cases when one gets mobbed at places like railway stations, so as to be able to judge the reliability of the driver.
Saarthi moves away from being just a GPS based device to provide an interactive and soothing experience through which the traveller can learn about the route he/she is taking and the landmarks that come on the way thus helping in understanding the geography of the area.

The game builds on a concept that the icons in the home screen of an iPhone themselves become an object of the game and home screen becomes the gaming environment. It builds on the fact that one does not have to launch an application. Accelerometer supports directing the icon movements and gesture support allows interaction with them.

developing tangible devices for facilitating social interaction. It started off as an attempt to get beyond the use of computers for interaction and how design could initiate conversations at the personal level. The race that we are in, there is a lot that we mean but never say, due to the apprehensions that hierarchy or consequences generate. Darpan functions as a system of two devices, one that gathers user feedback through anonymously expressed opinion and another, that expresses the mood(like tangible messages or emoticons) and interacts with other users by gauging their state of mind.
