Grey Jumper Upcycle

Grey Jumper Upcycle
I decided to upcycle an old school jumper as it was ill-fitting and had an unappealing design. I chose to turn the jumper into a cropped jumper and skirt set, by cutting the original jumper in half.

For the cropped jumper, I removed the sleeve cuffs to allow a more comfortable fit. I then unstitched the previous logo and embroidered some lavender stalks over the top of the logo. I then added a spare piece of fabric over the stitching on the inside to the jumper to prevent it from unravelling when washed.

For the skirt, I took the cut piece of fabric and turned it upside down. I then cut holes in the top band of fabric to add a drawstring to allow the waist to be adjustable.

There were a few aspects of the original design which I changed. I did not hem the cut areas of fabric as there was so little fabric to work with, and the material did not fray so hemming was unnecessary. I also moved the lavender stalks to cover the logo rather than be in the centre of the jumper as it was very difficult to completely remove the original logo, so the lavender stalks covered any remaining threads or holes.
I modelled the piece on myself and I had a photoshoot by my front door to display the outfit
