Have City Will Play was a one day event where we played two games in the newly developed public spaces of Newtown. I developed “The Nonsensical Obstacle Course” which was a race that was played in and around Mary Fitzgerald Square. Tegan Bristow initiated the game “Shoot me if you can”. Have City Will Play was about negotiating the city space in an engaging manner through the playing of a game. Have City Will Play takes advantage of the safe, car free zone in central Newtown created by the Arts Alive Festival to engage in play in this public space.

Have City Will Play was an investigation into the notion of play as various kinds of performance within public space. This project is kindly sponsored by the NAC (National Arts Council).
