05 Motion Graphics: Geeks vs Nerds Infomotion

Category 5: Motion Graphics
IOW 400.2: Infomotion

Description:
Working with topics and research gleaned from research topics, students were required to conceptualise, script, storyboard, design and animate a 40-180 second infomotion within After Effects. The infomotion itself serves as a method of taking complex or social ideas and representing them visually through means of an animation in an attempt to provide entertainment, while unpacking these ideas by means of a seamless, well constructed narrative.

This was a collaboration between Dylan Beangstrom (u17110808) and Daniella Mosca (u17067822).
Both members worked on all aspects in the duration of the animation, switching between scenes, responsibilities and tasks. As a result, there is no identifiable individual work for this project, but rather a seamless collaboration of collected work.

Rational:
The goal of the infomotion was to deliver an interesting narrative in a way that was unique and humourous in an attempt to give the viewer information on the selected topic. The infomotion itself was constructed in such a way that it does not necessarily give a definitive answer to a question or specific field of study, but rather portrays a relatable scenario with a twist, in an attempt to subvert any preconceived notions that the viewer may have. Cat avatars were chosen as vehicles for this infomotion in order to conceal any stereotypes that may detract from the narrative and thus derail the psychological intent of the overall project.
