I had the privilege of working with artist, writer, and director, Andrew Ondrejcak, and costume designer Zane Pihlstrom, on constructing costumes for a new opera.
YOU US WE ALL, premiering at the de Singel Internationales Sommerfestival in Belgium, and touring Europe in the fall, is a contemporary opera of " theatrical extravagance: the music, costume and stage are rich with a contemporary baroque – exaggerated decorative flourishes, allegorical and historical references. The work unfolds in a series of episodes in which the characters reflect on the meaning of their everyday existence, as the characters LOVE, DEATH, HOPE and VIRTUE parade through the masque of their lives."
Our team constructed the costume pieces in studio.
I worked as a costume assistant, draper, and cutter.
I specialized in pattern drafting, constructing gowns and corseted bodices, as well as tailoring. Responsibilities also included sourcing fabric and trims in Manhattan's Garment District.
